About Our Project

Both of us have been following Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo since we were little kids, witnessing the highs and the lows that both players have faced through 15+ years of football at the highest level. Going into the World Cup in Qatar, both players expressed their opinion that this is likely their last World Cup, meaning that it's the last opportunity to win the only trophy missing from both of their trophy cabinets and solidify a legacy of greatness. We wanted to take this opportunity to provide a concise summary of all of the games that Messi and Ronaldo participated in in their last World Cup for people to easily reflect upon and understand years down the line.

By using external news articles, interviews, social media posts, and updates from FotMob (sources provided), we were able to provide a timeline of the games that Messi and Ronaldo participated in by giving a brief overview of what happened during the game, the highlights of the game, and the FotMob rating of Messi or Ronaldo. We also gave an overview of some of the controversy around the World Cup in Qatar and provided videos about the fan experience not shown in Western media to show what the players were going through leading up to the tournament and what they may have seen off the pitch to put their performances in context. We established a history page where there is a breakdown of both Messi and Ronaldo’s World Cup careers including appearances, goals, and assists, and provided commentary on the background of the countries performances in those tournaments. Lastly, we made the website into a platform for one to discuss their thoughts and opinions on both players and their respective legacies.
